IP Briefing for EU SMEs Expanding into Japan’s Healthcare Sector
As part of the EU–Japan Intellectual Property Action, the EUIPO delivered an intellectual property briefing for European companies taking part in a business mission to Japan under the EU Business Hub – Japan programme. Held alongside the World Health Expo Osaka (WHX Osaka), a major international exhibition focused on the future of healthcare, the session was designed to support innovative European businesses exploring commercial opportunities in the Japanese market.
The briefing offered practical advice on the main intellectual property considerations for companies entering or growing their presence in Japan, emphasising the importance of protecting, managing, commercialising and enforcing IP assets. Through its cooperation with the EU Business Hub programme, the EU–Japan IPA continues to support EU SMEs and start-ups expanding into Japan by providing sector-specific IP information and market entry guidance. By strengthening IP awareness, the initiative helps European companies protect their innovations, reduce business risks and build a strong market position in Japan.
