Seminar on Enforcement Against Online Piracy and Counterfeiting

This seminar brought together European and Korean enforcement and regulatory authorities – including DG Trade, the EU Delegation in the Republic of Korea, Europol, the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) of the Ministry of Finance of The Netherlands, the EU Observatory, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), and the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP) of Korea.

Participants discussed IP enforcement mechanisms in the EU and Korea, namely the challenges and instruments for tackling foreign‑hosted online piracy and counterfeiting.

The agenda included sharing of best practices on IP enforcement in action in the EU and Korea and practical examples focusing on:

• technological tools, 
• intelligence-sharing,  
• coordination efforts, and 
• joint actions against organised IP crime.

The discussions between authorities strengthened mutual understanding of existing IP enforcement frameworks while identifying concrete opportunities for EU-Korea collaboration.
