IP in education

Young people across CARIFORUM are powerful drivers of creativity and innovation, yet many lack awareness of how IP systems can protect and monetise their ideas. To address this, CarIPI developed the ‘IP in School’ project during its first implementation phase, which has been widely appreciated by the CARIFORUM IPOs, and its materials are already in use in several countries.

Under AWP2, CarIPI will build on this success by delivering a targeted youth programme structured around four components: programme launch and teacher orientation; summer bootcamp and national innovation challenge; IP clinics and mentorship; and national and virtual regional IP and innovation expos. Together, these components aim to equip the next generation of Caribbean innovators with the awareness, skills and networks to turn their ideas into protected, marketable assets.
