Capacity building for judiciary and legal professionals

A strong intellectual property system depends on both robust legal frameworks and the institutions that apply them. As a new activity under AWP2, CarIPI will launch targeted engagement with the judiciary across CARIFORUM States to deepen knowledge of IP laws, promote consistent jurisprudence, and foster dialogue between courts and enforcement agencies. In line with these objectives, CarIPI supported the participation of CARIFORUM judges and legal professionals in the 6th IP Case Law Conference, held on 21 and 22 May in Alicante, with representatives identified in consultation with the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and the Dominican Republic Supreme Court of Justice.

Organised by the EUIPO Boards of Appeal, the IP Case Law Conference is EUIPO’s flagship judicial event, bringing together senior judges, legal practitioners, academics and institutional representatives from Europe and beyond to discuss the development of intellectual property law.
