IP briefings for EU SMEs of the Healthcare sector expanding to Korea

The European Union Intellectual Property Office under the EU-RoK IP Action continues to reinforce the collaboration with the EU Business Hub programme. It supports EU companies expanding into the Korean market and protects, manages, commercialises and enforces their IP rights across borders.

These IP briefing sessions provided by the EU-RoK IP Action’s experts target 53 selected EU SMEs and startups of the healthcare sector, providing them with the must-knows for IP protection and the technicalities to consider when expanding within the healthcare sector in Korea.

According to a study conducted in the EU in 2021, less than 9% of small businesses protect their IP. These sessions allow SMEs to understand the importance of managing their IP assets and the risks of non-protection. The SMEs receive information to help them identify their IP strategy, the mechanisms of protection in the EU and Korea and on good practices when making use of their IPRs. This includes licensing and monitoring, relevant regulatory schemes and case studies of the sector.
