IP support for SMEs under the EU Business Hub programme
To support EU companies expanding into the Korean market and protecting, managing, commercialising and enforcing their IP rights across borders, the European Union Intellectual Property Office under the EU-RoK IP Action is building synergies with the EU Business Hub programme. The EU Business Hub aims to support EU businesses in the green, digital and healthcare sectors as they enter the Korean market. In preparation for Digital Solutions Korea 2024, the EU-RoK IP Action is providing preparatory IP briefings for the 38 participating EU SMEs and startups of the digital sector. These briefings provide SMEs with the must-knows for IP protection and enforcement. According to a study conducted in the EU, less than 9% of small businesses protect their IP. These sessions allow SMEs to understand the importance of managing their IP assets and the risks of non-protection. The SMEs receive information about the possibilities and mechanisms of protection in EU and Korea, how to go about licensing, and the ways to enforce their rights in the event of violations, while also providing practical tips for participating in a trade fair in Korea.
