IP in Schools project: meetings with teachers from Antigua and Barbuda
From 24-26 January 2023, CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation (CarIPI) organised a series of online “sensitization” meetings with teachers from Antigua and Barbuda. The sessions provided them with an introduction to IP basics.
These awareness meetings targeted primary and secondary school teachers and introduced CarIPI’s IP in Education project. The sessions included an overview of the materials created by the EUIPO and a demonstration of how IP principles can be incorporated into the classroom.
These meetings are part of Activity 5 of AWP4, ‘Creativity and IP in Schools Project- Part II’. This aims to develop a regional strategy to implement the programme developed under AWP3, and train CARIFORUM teachers.
Introducing IP in school curricula is expected to reinforce the positive perception of how IP rights can be used to generate value and improve livelihoods in all sectors of the economy.
