Creativity and IP in Georgian Schools

On 29 September, the EUGIPP, Sakpatenti and the Georgian Ministry of Education officially launched the Creativity and IP in Georgian Schools initiative.

This ambitious initiative, which aims to introduce intellectual property rights to pupils, intends to reach out to over 1000 Georgian students during the forthcoming academic year. Among others, the event was attended by Ekaterine Dgebuadze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, and Mindia Davitadze and Nino Chikovani, Chairman and Deputy Chairperson of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia – "Sakpatenti".

The launch event presented the project’s objectives, timeline and learning materials to all relevant stakeholders. As a first step, only selected schools will participate. School principals, teacher coordinators and Sakpatenti staff will be briefed on the activity and integration of intellectual property into Georgian schools’ curricula. In doing so, targeted schools will be provided with appropriate learning methods to understand and recognise the importance of intellectual property.

The EUGIPP, with the support of the Ideaspowered@school initiative, will also produce learning materials in Georgian, which will be also made available to the public on the EUGIPP website.
