The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), under the EU–Japan Intellectual Property Action (EU–Japan IPA), organises a specialised webinar on how to protect registered EU designs and prepare for possible invalidity actions. The session focuses on EU design invalidity procedures and addresses the challenges faced by Japanese applicants, including the need to initiate invalidity claims to protect earlier design rights. The webinar provides practical guidance on procedural aspects and evidentiary requirements, with particular emphasis on how the EU assesses novelty and individual character, offering IP practitioners insights for the effective protection and enforcement of EU design rights.
