IP awareness: focus on women and youth
For IP rights to be recognised as vital tools for economic, social and cultural development, and not merely as trade-related obligations, countries need more than strong institutional frameworks. Fostering cultural change through ongoing awareness and education is equally as important.
In this context, the project’s activities under AWP 1 addresses these needs by supporting targeted initiatives that raise IP awareness and promote a better understanding of its importance across all sectors. It also seeks to ensure that IP systems are inclusive and accessible, particularly to women, young people and indigenous communities. This objective will be achieved through a series of actions including awareness campaigns for women and young entrepreneurs, participation in regional events and the inclusion of a young creator from the region in the EUIPO Young Leadership Programme.
These activities build on existing activities from CarIPI I, such as the IP in School project, which was widely appreciated as highly useful and whose materials are already used in several countries.
