CarIPI participates in the International IP enforcement Summit

CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation (CarIPI) supported the participation of 12 CARIFORUM countries’ Senior Customs Officials in the International IP Enforcement Summit, held on 14-15 June 2023 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The summit was organised jointly by the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria , the European Commission, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office. It brought together key European and international decision-makers, law enforcement authorities, multinational companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, consumer representatives, and other relevant players to discuss ways to improve protection and enforcement of IP rights in the EU and around the globe.

CARIFORUM representatives had the opportunity to meet with other law enforcement authorities and relevant international stakeholders. Discussions focused on the ways to improve the protection and enforcement of IP rights.

After the event, CarIPI organised a study visit to Sofia’s international airport and the corresponding customs Office. Participants benefited from an explanation on the functioning of the EU airport’s customs proceedings and IP enforcement measures in place.

This event is part of Activity 9 of CarIPI’s fourth Annual Work Plan ‘IP enforcement: Manual, training & study on border measures’.
