Capacity building for Business Support Organisations: IP valuation and IP backed finance

Strong IP systems are key drivers for innovation, economic diversification, and sustainable growth. However, many micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the CARIFORUM region still lack awareness of how to use IP strategically, whether in their daily operations or as a financial asset, which limits their access to capital and weakens their competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

In recent years, there has been a growing global interest in IP-backed finance. Valuing IP assets and integrating them into financial planning are essential steps towards unlocking new investment sources. By building capacity in IP valuation and raising awareness of IP-backed finance models, this activity aims to contribute to a better IP system in the region. A dedicated workshop will focus on demystifying IP valuation and demonstrating its practical benefits for business growth, making it easier to encourage its use in the private sector.
