Support for the Setup and Strengthening of Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) in ARIPO and OAPI member states

In 2022, AfrIPI will carry out a twofold action to help set-up and develop Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) for literary and artistic works in Member States of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OAPI).

For the ARIPO, this activity will have the following primary objective:

  • to provide legal and technical assistance to the set-up and development of CMOs for literary and artistic works in ARIPO Member States.

For the OAPI, the main objective of the activity will be to strengthen the capacities of existing CMOs, to achieve greater efficiency by providing tools, supporting a collection of repertoires, diversifying partners and improving working relations with other institutional actors. Consequently, the activity will seek to:

  • share knowledge and experience between CMOs on the promotion of copyrights and related rights;
  • support the ongoing process to familiarise CMOs with tools.
