CarIPI celebrates World IP Day with CARIFORUM intellectual property offices

In celebration of World IP Day on 26 April 2023, for which the theme is ‘Women and IP: accelerating innovation and creativity’, CarIPI will collaborate with different CARIFORUM national intellectual property (IP) offices to promote all their activities during IP Week.

In addition, CarIPI will also launch a video series showcasing female entrepreneurs in the Caribbean who use IP to protect their businesses. The videos will be available on our social media channels.

Workshop on TMClass with BIE Suriname

On 28 March 2023, CARIFORUM Intellectual Property Rights and Innovation (CarIPI) organised a joint workshop on TMClass with the Surinamese Intellectual Property Office (BIE). The workshop reviewed the benefits of having a pre-defined and published list of terms for goods and services that are accepted when registering trade marks. The workshop was aimed particularly at examiners, users of the IP system and SMEs.

Awareness raising workshop on geographical indications – with stakeholders from Grenada

On 22 March 2023, CarIPI collaborated with the Grenada IP office (CAIPO) to host an online session on geographical indications with interested producer organisations in the country. The producers attending this session included Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association, Grenada Cocoa Association, Soursop Marketing and National Importing Board, Grenada Beekeepers Association, Grenada Rum Producers Association, River Antoine Estate producer of River Antoine Rum, and Cane Co producers of Renegade Rum, among others.
