Specialised training session on trade marks for IPO staff: ‘Bad faith registration’

On 26 November 2020, we hosted a specialised training session on ‘Bad faith registration’ which took place via Zoom. IPO staff members had the opportunity to participate in the training and benefit from the knowledge from Ewelina Sliwinska, EUIPO Senior Expert on Legal Affairs.

This training session has been organised by the CarIPI Project Team, with the goal of strengthening the technical capabilities and skills of the CF IP Offices staff regarding trade mark examination, with a particular focus on bad faith registration.

On 24 November 2020, IPO staff members had the opportunity to take part in a specialised training session on ‘Unregistered marks and other signs used in the course of trade’.

The CarIPI Project Team has organised this virtual training session, which took via Zoom. Its objective was to strengthen the technical capabilities and skills of the CF IP Offices staff regarding trade mark examination.

Trinidad and Tobago Joins the Madrid System

On 12 October 2020, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago formally acceded to the Madrid Protocol. This makes Trinidad and Tobago the 107th member of the Madrid System, which now covers 123 countries. 

After Trinidad and Tobago deposited its instrument of accession, it will enter into force on January 12, 2021.

Sub-PSC and Trade Mark Task Force meeting

On 14 October, the CARIFORUM Directorate along with Intellectual Property (IP) Offices of its Member States, the European Union, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), will meet virtually to discuss present and future activities of CarIPI, a European Development Fund (EDF) initiative, which aims to promote and boost innovation and IP rights in the Caribbean region.
