ARISE+ IPR hosts regional IP rights enforcement workshop in the Philippines

The ARISE+ IPR team hosted the ‘Regional Workshop on IPR Enforcement’ in Manila, the Philippines, on 24-25 April, back to back with the 4th ASEAN Network of IPR Enforcement Experts (ANIEE) meeting on 25-26 April. The activities lead into World IP Day on 26 April, and formed part of a range of events marking National Intellectual Property Month in the Philippines throughout April.

ARISE+ IPR Annual Work Plan presented to steering committee

The ARISE+ IPR Annual Work Plan report for 2018-19 (AWP1) and the new Annual Work Plan for 2019-20 (AWP2) were presented to the Sub-Project Steering Committee at a meeting in Bangkok on 27 March. The AWP1 report was presented with information on each of the activities under the ARISE+ IPR AWP1 and results achieved to date, before finalisation and adoption of the report by the committee during the meeting.

ARISE+ IPR supports ASEAN officials and producers at AsiaGI 2019 in Bali

The ARISE+ IPR team supported the participation of IP officials and producers from Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar to learn more about geographical indications (GIs) at the AsiaGI 2019 training event in Bali, Indonesia, on 25-30 March. The training event was organised by CIRAD, the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development, and REDD, a training and consultancy organisation based in Switzerland that supports sustainable agriculture through engagement with food producers and consumers.

ASEAN business leaders gain insights on protecting their trademarks and designs overseas

Representatives from the business community, IP practitioners, officials and other stakeholders gained insights on the procedures and advantages of protecting brands through the Madrid Protocol for the international registration of marks at a series of ARISE+ IPR workshops held in Indonesia, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Thailand from 27 February to 5 March. The workshop in Cambodia also included information on the Hague system for the international registration of designs.
