Mediation: facilitating the resolution of IP disputes

Running from August to November 2026, this activity promotes the use of mediation as an effective alternative for dispute resolution of IP conflicts across ASEAN Member States. It builds on previous initiatives, such as a webinar under AWP1 and a practical workshop during IP Week @ SG 2025. The activity aims to strengthen the capacity of IP offices to develop and deploy mediation services, as well as train new (or potential) mediators within the region.

Aligned with Strategic Measures 1 and 4 of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2026-2030, this activity contributes to strengthening national IP regimes and fostering a culture of respect for IP through promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. It will support ASEAN IP Offices in enhancing user-centric services and improving access to efficient dispute resolution pathways. The activity may be delivered in conjunction with IP Week @ SG 2026 and/or a regional initiative led by the Philippines. This will reinforce regional cooperation in building more accessible and effective IP dispute resolution systems.
