EU IP Project in China and the French Embassy in Beijing Cooperated on IP Enforcement
On 15 October 2026, the French Embassy in Beijing and the EU IP Project in China “Intellectual Property Protection and Enforcement in China: A Key to Sustainable Competitiveness of the EU”, implemented and co-funded by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), co-organised an international conference on intellectual property (IP) protection and enforcement as part of the Franco-Chinese Legal and Judicial Forum.
In a ‘Team Europe’ approach, the event brought together representatives from Chinese authorities, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, European institutions, academia, legal practitioners and industry to discuss current developments in IP protection and enforcement, with a particular focus on counterfeiting, copyright, online infringement and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
The EU IP Project in China contributed with expert speakers and supported discussions aimed at strengthening EU-China dialogue and fostering exchanges of best practices among stakeholders.
The conference pursued the following objectives:
- Promoting dialogue on recent developments in IP protection and enforcement in China and the European Union;
- Facilitating the exchange of experiences between authorities, legal practitioners, academics and industry representatives;
- Addressing emerging challenges related to counterfeiting, online enforcement, copyright and Artificial Intelligence;
- Strengthening cooperation between the EU IP Project in China, the French Embassy in Beijing and other European stakeholders active in China.
By bringing together representatives from China and Europe, the event contributed to stronger cooperation networks and supported ongoing efforts to promote effective, fair and robust intellectual property enforcement.
