EUIPO to participate in the WIPO World GI symposium

The EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project will support the participation of a speaker from the EUIPO in the Worldwide Symposium on Geographical Indications (GIs). The 2023 edition of this symposium will take place in Tbilisi from 14-16 June 2023, and it is organised jointly by the World Intellectual Property Office and the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia (SAKPATENTI).

Every two years, the symposium brings together representatives of national administrations, producers of GI products and GI specialists. It provides a forum for exchanging ideas and perspectives on issues relating to the use and protection of GIs. It also offers technical insights and information on recent developments in the field.

The participation of the EUIPO will contribute to promoting the EU’s work in the GIs field.  Notably, a panel discussion will be dedicated to new developments in geographical indications in selected countries and in the Lisbon System of Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications.
