Seminar on codification and standardisation of the Chamber of Appeals at Sakpatenti

On 20 April 2023, the EUGIPP and Sakpatenti will organise a seminar on the appeal systems in the EU and Georgia.

Experts from the EUIPO, representatives of Sakpatenti and representatives from the public and private sectors will review the results of a recent study. The study assesses the degree of harmonisation and the discrepancies between the EUIPO Boards of Appeal (BoA) and the Chamber of Appeals of Sakpatenti.

Participants will discuss the proposed new statute for the Sakpatenti Chamber of Appeals. They will focus on the substantial changes that the proposed new statute will have on the effectiveness and consistency of the Sakpatenti Chamber of Appeals’ IP decisions.

Both the study and the proposal were drafted in parallel with the aim of aligning Georgian practice with EU standards.

This activity concludes the work started in AWP2021 to enhance the role of the Sakpatenti Chamber of Appeals.
