Policy-level stakeholder closing event

On 4 May 2023, the EU-Georgia Intellectual Property Project (EUGIPP) will hold its closing event. After three and a half years of implementation, the project will come to an end in June 2023.

This project implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) whose main beneficiary is the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, has been working closely with Sakpatenti and other stakeholders on diverse lines of action to achieve several results. In particular, the project aimed to strengthen the intellectual property (IP) institutions and networks by supporting more efficient and user-friendly IP systems. It strove to achieve modern, transparent and fair implementation of IP enforcement policies in Georgia. Moreover, the EUGIPP mobilised resources to increase awareness on the benefits of a comprehensive IP system among different segments of the Georgian public.

To reach such goals, it was crucial to cooperate with all stakeholders both in Georgia and abroad. Therefore, this closing event brings stakeholders involved in the implementation of the project together to discuss its achievements. During the event, participants will hear about the main activities carried out within the project. They will also discuss the results and future opportunities for cooperation with the project management team and Sakpatenti representatives.

The event will also be an opportunity to raise the awareness of the Georgian public and relevant stakeholders of the consumer risks associated with buying counterfeit products and how this contributes to international crime.

The event will contribute to strengthening existing relations between the EU and Georgia and will underline the EUIPO’s support to the EU-Georgia Association Agenda on IP-related matters based on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).
