The EUIPO hosts a study visit on IP and sport for winners of the Moldovan IP Youth Award

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in cooperation with the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI), organised a study visit to Alicante for the winners of the Moldovan IP Youth Award in the context of the EU-funded EU4IP project.

The initiative brought together a delegation from the Republic of Moldova composed of award winners and representatives from AGEPI and the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova. The study visit contributes to the EUIPO’s broader efforts to support youth-focused awareness raising on intellectual property (IP). It built on the momentum of the Youth Competition Award ‘Intellectual Property and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate’ event, organised earlier this year in Chișinău.

Held at the EUIPO premises on 15 and 16 July 2026, the two-day programme combined an introduction to the work of the Office with interactive educational activities focused on IP and sport.

During the first day, participants attended sessions presenting the role of the EUIPO in protecting IP rights. This was followed by a guided tour of the Office and an interactive session dedicated to IP and youth education.

The second day focused on the theme of the competition, ‘IP and Sports’, exploring how intellectual property is connected to sporting activities, creativity and youth culture. Participants took part in practical activities that illustrated how trade marks, designs and other IP rights are relevant for these popular sectors.

Supporting youth-focused awareness initiatives is part of the EU4IP project’s broader objective of increasing public understanding of IP. Additionally, the project aims to strengthen the capacities of the productive sector to protect, manage and enforce IP rights. By encouraging young people to explore how ideas, brands and creativity can be protected, the EUIPO contributes to fostering a business and innovation environment increasingly aligned with EU practices.

The EUIPO continues to shape international IP alliances with like-minded partner institutions on strategic topics. One such topic is inclusiveness, empowering children and teenagers to develop their creative potential and to better understand the role of IP in innovation.
